Fibre, leased line and Starlink check

Enter a UK postcode to see how much of it can get superfast, ultrafast and gigabit broadband, and what a dedicated leased line or Starlink would mean there. Ideal for offices, farms, yards and new sites.

Ofcom Connected Nations data for 1.7 million UK postcodes. No sign-up, nothing stored.

Reading the result

  • Superfast (30 Mbps and up) is usually fibre to the cabinet with copper to the building. Fine for a handful of people.
  • Ultrafast (300 Mbps and up) means full fibre or Virgin Media cable is in the postcode.
  • Gigabit (1,000 Mbps and up) means full fibre or gigabit cable is at or near the door. Where this is high, business fibre is cheap and a leased line is usually straightforward.

Broadband or leased line?

Business broadband shares capacity with your neighbours and comes with a best-efforts fix time. A leased line is your own dedicated fibre with the same speed up and down, a guaranteed fix time measured in hours, and no slowdowns at 4pm. If you run phones, video calls, cloud software or a team of more than ten or so over the same connection, a leased line is normally worth it. Prices have fallen a long way: a 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps line in a well-served area is typically a few hundred pounds a month on a three-year term, often with free installation.

Where Starlink fits

Starlink covers the whole of the UK and installs in a day, which makes it the quickest answer for farms, rural sites, yards and temporary locations. In towns with gigabit in the street it's best used as a backup line so you keep working if the fibre is cut. We install both and can put one behind the other so the switchover is automatic.

What we do next

Postcode data is a guide, not a quote. If you ask us, we run address-level availability checks with several carriers, including Openreach, CityFibre and the regional fibre networks, and come back with real prices and lead times. There's no charge for that.

Common questions

How accurate is the postcode data?

It's Ofcom's Connected Nations data, collected from the network operators themselves, as a snapshot from January 2025. It describes the postcode, not your individual address, so we always confirm at address level before quoting.

Can you check leased line availability for my exact address?

Yes. Send us the address and we'll run carrier checks with Openreach, CityFibre and the regional networks, then give you real prices and install times. It's free and there's no obligation.

How long does a leased line take to install?

Typically 30 to 90 working days, longer if civils work is needed. We usually put in Starlink or 4G/5G as an interim connection so you're not waiting.

Is Starlink good enough to run a business on?

For most small businesses, yes. Typical UK speeds are 50 to 250 Mbps download with latency low enough for video calls and cloud software. We've installed it as the main connection for rural businesses and as the backup for offices on fibre.
